The service
Palate photographs restaurant menus, extracts the dishes, translates them into your chosen language, and adds dish context and imagery. Translations and dish descriptions are generated by automated systems and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Always confirm allergens, ingredients, dietary suitability, and prices with the restaurant before ordering. Palate is an aid, not a substitute for the actual menu or professional/medical advice.
Free and paid plans
Palate offers a free tier with a monthly allowance of AI-powered scans, after which scans fall back to on-device processing. Paid options ("Trip Pass" and "Frequent Traveler") unlock unlimited AI scans and additional features:
Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store / Google Play account settings. Except where required by law or the platform's policy, payments are non-refundable.
Bring your own key
If you supply your own AI provider API key, you are responsible for that key, its usage, and any costs your provider charges you. You must comply with that provider's terms.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Palate, including: scanning content you have no right to capture; attempting to bypass scan limits or access controls; reverse-engineering the service; or using it to break any law.
Intellectual property
Palate, its design, and its content (excluding menus you scan and content you create) are owned by the publisher. You retain rights to the photos you take and reviews you write.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Palate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision you make based on a translation, description, price, or allergen/ingredient information shown in the app.
Changes
We may update these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
